Pharrell Loves Spectacle

A collabo made in heaven

This Halloween was filled with many treats for the Spectacle family.

Follow along as Jag and Darren embark on a series of adventures....

The day started out as any normal Saturday would lots of customers and fun in the shop then we got a call from our man Corey

Corey let us know that Pharrell who was in town with Jay Z that day and need some custom tint work done on a vintage pair of Dior's, Corey naturally sent them our way, Thanks for that buddy!

We exchanged a couple of phone calls with Pharrell's number one guy Mick and set a time to meet up with them at their hotel, We wont tell you which one but it was swank.

Passing time at the Hotel

Mick met us in the bar and said everything was running late and asked if it was ok for us to just meet up with Pharrell backstage after the show, in the dressing room.
It took us about 0.000001 seconds to say yes and our night was set.

Into the Range and off to the ACC Jag and Darren sped, after clearing it with their girlfriends of course. It was Halloween; we didn't want to leave those lovely ladies out in the lurch.

Once we got to the show we checked out the N.E.R.D. set, and man was the joint jumping, good vibes all around.

Sure beats office work

When N.E.R.D finished it was time to take advantage of those V.I.P wrist bands and head back stage.

Well back there Darren and Mick hung out while Jag and Pharell went off into another room to discuss top secret business.

Two number one's

Darren also ran into Spectacle client and international T-Dot ambassador Kardinal Offishall. Kardi is one of the nicest guys around and stopped to watch the show with the boys for a while,

Big ups to T-dot

The show was awesome, Jay killed it and getting to check the whole thing out from beside the stage was pretty freaking cool. It was just Jag, Darren, Kardi, Pharrell, Drake (he recognized Jag from back in the day, but his bodyguard wasn’t letting anyone get close) and Memphis Bleek. You know all the big players in hip hop.

This man does not have 99 problems

Jag and Darren left the concert totally hyped up and wanted to get to work on the Pharell job right away.

A couple more phone calls and some image approvals later and the whole thing was complete........

Another job in the life of Spectacle

For those of you who want to get your hands on a pair of these worry not, we are in the process of making that happen for you.

Spectacle, where every client gets treated like a rap superstar, cuz some are.

Fashion Week Toronto

Many of our stylish blog readers were particiapting in Fashion Week one way or another.

Well, as per usual, we were there too. Now that all the dust has settled its time to tell the tale so to speak.

These were the Sunglasses we supplied arriving backstage

And here is a photo Jag took while hanging out back stage at one of the shows.

This lovley lady is showing off some Cutler & Gross' in true Spectacle style

If you saw someone wearing something you liked during Fashion Week, just come on by the Queen St shop and let us know, we've just finished cataloging all of them.

Cutler and Gross Spring Summer 2010 Is Here!

Amore!

Spring/Summer 2010 Sees Cutler and Gross progressing deeper into the cinematic medium, their creative team is casting a retrospective eye upon itself, homing onto the classics. This time the insperation is drawn from Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastoianni in "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" in which Loren played the nubile nymph falling for an older man, the suave and dashing Marcello at his most de bonnaire.

Sophia Loren causing all kinds of insperation

This is a collection inspired by big screen transformations of pretty girls into beautiful women: cute boys into men.

The craftsmenship and beautiful materials, almost too meticulous for today's disposable culture can't help muster up a wiff of a desierable nostalgia. This is eyewear worthy of a whirlwind romance played out in a speeding sports car. These are glasses that demand linen, silk and the Neapolitan sun.

My Entourage Includes Oliver Peoples

Oliver Peoples, one of Hollywood's favorite eyewear brands, appearing in scenes from the Season 6 Finale of Entourage from HBO. The scenes included one of which was filmed inside the flagship Oliver Peoples boutique on Sunset. The minimalist designed store, an inspiration for the design at Spectacle, carries many vintage designs. This store is where many of the most iconic early designs where created.

Vince (Adrien Grenier) in BECHET

On a side note Adrien was in TO for TIFF a lil while ago and ended up at our buddy Tim McCready's house jamming in his living room.... no joke, check it out on Tim's awesome blog

Styles available at all Spectacle locations....what a surprise...

Super Party Tomorrow!!!!

Thats right only one sleep until we unvail the new Super collection at Spectacle.

Just a reminder that this event is open to all of our clients and blog friends so if you are around 752 Queen St from 8-10 tmrw pop in say hi and check out the goods

For those of you that can't wait 24hrs here is a sneak peak of what to expect from the 09/10 Supers straight from the horses mouth a.k.a. the Superblog.......

For our AW09/10 collection we worked on a few essential points: Improving a high quality standard to match the style of the brand, concentrating on curating the small details to give the new pieces a finishing touch of quality and last but not least we added brand-new silhouettes and new sets of lenses to our range.

You will notice, that from this collection on, we’ve moved our “super” distinctive mark: which now functions as a decorative cap between the frame and the leg, revealing our logo only when the eyewear is open, when the piece is closed it creates a simple yet incisive recognition decor.

By adding a larger variety of lenses to our collection – both in color and predominantly in function – we gave our pieces, not only a beautiful aesthetic match, but also a specific lens for its specific purpose.

The “golden arms” series is an ode to the Italian elegance, fashion and lifestyle of La Bella Vita. With its sharp black acetate and shiny legs this series is incredibly stylish and elegant, the all-black Zeiss completely hides your eyes, protecting them and maintaing the exclusive mystery-man look

For this collection we decided to introduce new shapes to maintain the RetroSuperFuture look.
The first being the most fashionista and futuristic: the Luciano Tre Occhi.
This model comes in two sizes, to best suit both male and female faces and features. Its geometric yet classic design recalls the unique Italian style of engineer-deisgn, especially that of the Futurista movement and of Italian designers such as Marcello Gandini. The black, tortoise and dark grey make this piece of eyewear elegant and unique.
