Just to keep ya up to date on some fun shop stuff: Today we had the wonderful opportunity of welcoming Tanya Kim and Dan Levy along with the rest of the E talk crew into the shop to take a look at some of our rad SPECS. Perfect timing to, because were celebrating 5 YEARS ON THE BLOCK so come in and take a look at the new stuff we got for this season! On a side note: I love when Tanya and Dan come in the shop on their time off, they're actually really nice, cool people... let's not forget the obvious good taste in glasses ha.

That's all for now.

EVERYONE LISTEN UP! The much anticipated Dita collection has now arrived at spectacle and were all very excited! Hell, we even dedicated a window display to it! You all really should come in and take a peak, they're beautiful frames.

Also, you should take a stroll by and see the new window display done up by our very own Esther Whang.

Dita started back in 1996 with childhood friends Jeff Solorio and John Juniper who had a vision and passion for high quality eyewear. The pair made that vision come to life and have been going strong ever since.

I think the frames speak for themselves:

Did i mention we have the best selection in the city??

Dita is available at our queen st location!

Zooey by Oliver Peoples

Zooey Claire Deschanel is an American actress, musician, singer-songwriter and now eyewear muse for Oliver Peoples. Deschanel made her film debut in 1999's Mumford and soon became known for memorable, deadpan supporting roles. Her retro-styled frame is smart, sassy and sophisticated.
Available as optical eyewear or a sunglass, the Zooey is hand-crafted of substantial plastic in beveled contours and features a vintage-inspired, custom Oliver Peoples metal plaque with ridged detailing at the end pieces. Core-wire visible within the temple is embossed with Oliver Peoples logo detailing and the Oliver Peoples plaque is laminated at the temple end.

CR-39 lenses are equipped with a one-of-a-kind breath logo in the shape of her kissing lips, an element also featured on the AR cloth included, which resembles a cocktail napkin, reflecting the fun yet sexy personality of its namesake.

The Zooey is a limited edition model available at all Spectacle locations.

Idyl by Alain Mikli

No single person has had as much influence on eyewear that French designer Alain Mikli. The Mikli collection features unique colors and shapes, and are a favourite among European glitterati and avant-garde Americans.

His latest addition is Idyl. The pieces are an ode to stained-glass windows and pop art, with hand-painted acetate and black crystal frames. The effect is someone cool enough to have street cred, yet open enough to be approachable. The pieces are available in three patterns: striped, chimera and cubic; and are offered in a variety of six colour combination all combined with black crystal.

For those unfamiliar with Alain Mikli, we've added a short video of his work, past & present. Enjoy and remember...Spectacle Loves You.

Vingt+age by Theo Eyewear

Once upon a time... at the Paris tradeshow Silmo, two fresh but driven Opticians, Wim Somers and Patrick Hoet, felt a need to thoroughly change the landscape of spectacles and show the international crowd of attendees what they had created. The result of their labour was the Theo collection.

'THEO' (an anagram of "Hoet" Patrick's family name) grabbed hold of a good position in the market niche of high-fashion spectacles without 'signature'. At the outset Theo was only noticed and followed by a very limited group of forward-thinking people who happened to wear glasses. Through word-of-mouth Theo has managed to bring its collection to a wider range of young, self-confident, happy far & near-sighted people.

Every Theo frame is handcrafted in Antwerp, Belgium. Twisted, outrageous & edgy describe this wonderful collection of handcrafted Belgian spectacles. Using only the highest quality titanium and acetate, combined with avant-garde design, each piece delivers expressions of individualism.

If glasses make the man, then these might make you…Theo’s VinGt+age frames are big, bold, made out of two-toned stainless steel and can be ordered as prescription glasses or sunglasses.

Theo loves you! Exclusively at Spectacle, Lawrence Park!

Factory by Anne et Valentin

Far from the norms fixed by the optical universe, Anne et Valentin have conceived playful, brightly hued models, whimsical yet crafted with all the care imaginable. Original and rich in colour, the collection is created to be easy to wear, even in the case of the shy customer who dares not dare.

Anne et Valentin aims at highlighting or underscoring an individual’s “look”, bearing in mind the wearer’s personality. Anne et Valentin have created their own colours from a chromatic and strictly Mediterranean palette.
Factory” inspired by the Factory studio created by Andy Warhol in the 60s in New York, this concept consists in four shapes and emphasizes some of the creative principles used by the artist himself.

Basic consumable items, like zamac, which is a hypo-allergenic material was used for hinges and temple tip detail. The frames also offer an Original sketch feel; To get this factory-like finish, the acetate frames are polished according to the traditional spectacle makers method; this means the polishing machine makes a second pass on the specific locations to re-shape the frames. This style-revival liberates the vital energy of the design and give strength and truth to this Rock’N’Roll series.
