Spectacle Loves Previewing Oliver Peoples SS11 Collection

To coincide with our debuting of the Diamond Daddy B yesterday our precious gem of an Oliver Peoples rep Anushka was in town with a sneak peak at whats in store for Spring Summer 2011 from OP, Paul Smith and Mosley Tribes.

Our game plan for the day was to hit all three Spectacle shops and show our wonderful people some wonderful frames before they start to arrive over the next month or so.

First up was the flagship at 752 Queen St W, where Emma our senior stylist helped sort through the multitude of greatness and select the best of the best to hit the road with.

Next up was building B53 in the Distillery where Jordan was manning the districts "Top Optical Shop"

After a quick sandwich at the Brick St Bakery, a Spectacle favorite, 3342 Yonge St was the next destination. There Mason and Michael took a break from being the superstars of Lawrence Park that they are to take a look at things to come,

Of course Michael looked great in this new color way on a Mosley Tribes Lyndel, earning him that "Sweetness" nickname we love around here.

The 2011 Resort collection from the fine people at Oliver Peoples, Sir Paul Smith and the Mosley Tribes gang will be arriving periodically at all three Spectacle locals sooner rather then later so stop by and try some on and remember Spectacle Loves You!

Spectacle Presents Diamond Daddy B's Oct 29th

WOW is all we can say !!! Oliver Peoples has out done themselves with this one.
They have made a black Daddy B, possibly the hottest shade since the invention of the sun and with Diamonds!

Originally these were only supposed to be for the OP Boutiques on Sunset Blvd, Tokyo, Las Vegas etc etc but us fine folks at Spectacle wouldn't stand for that. Soooooo on Friday we will be unavailing the only one of these extra special frames not to be sold at an OP related store.

Not even the celebs like Jay Z and Penélope Cruz who have been loving this frames for a while now have the ones with diamonds in them

Thats right the only place you can see these bad boys is 752 Queen St West in Toronto starting Friday Oct 29th, until one very lucky person purchases them.

Here is all the technical info on the jewels for you junior gemologists out there, each frame comes with , 6 stones 0.22ct, round cut, micro pave setting and they are graded , VS1-VS2.

Spectacle will continue its mission to bring you the best in exclusive frames because we love you

Spectacle Loves Making Custom Moscots

The Spectacle team is at it again, this time we have taken some of our favorite limited edition colored Moscot Nebbs and turned them in "Spectacle Exclusive" shades for your viewing pleasure

Here are the frames still in their regular eye glass form before our very own in house mad scientist Jordan Bray got his hands on them.

This is Mr Tall, Dark and Handsome himself on special loan from Spectacle Distillery District hard at work at in the Spectacle Lab concocting wonderful creations for our supreme clientele.

And behold, the finished product resting beautifully on the shelves of Spectacle Queen St, waiting for you to come in and be the first to try them on.

Spectacle Loves making these custom sunglasses because it keeps our stock fresh and unique and most importantly because we love you.

IC! Berlin Spring/Summer 2011 Now At Spectacle!!!

Spectacle's love affair with IC! Berlin is well documented. They are after all one of two frame companies to pony up with us for a collaboration frame, so you know we think they are on point with all they do.

It came as no surprise to us that when we opened up the box of new 2011 sunglass designs that our hearts skipped a little beat, they are freaking awesome.

Styles so bright they shine.

As with all IC!Berlin collections these come shrouded in mystery. Names for the frames include Big Bang, Pair Annihilation and Wavefunction, the Arabic writing from the previous season seems to still be on the temples as well as some diagrams that were added this year. Stay tuned to the blog as soon as we get any info on what this all means we will let you know.

In the meantime Darren and Kelly(our bestest female optician)took some time away from solving the worlds eye care issues to model the Dark Energy frame in the famous Spectacle lab.

New Ic!Berlins are showing up daily at all three of our shops, stop by and check em out before they are gone.

Spectacle Loves Beausoleil's Wood/Acetate Collection

Beusoleil Eyewear has been in business since the mid 80's, founded by Mr Frederic Beausoleil himself the collection is one of the few on earth still created using the old French art of compagnonage.

Compagnonage is an ancient style of watchmaking exclusive to a small region in France and adapted by Frederic for the manufacturing of his eye glasses.

On one of Jag's buying trips he came across the new Wood/Acetate collection Beausoleil came up with for 2011 and knew it was the right fit for Spectacle.

Made with natural acetates and 20% real wood fibers this collection is a truly unique one amongst all the wonderful brands carried regularly at Spectacle.

Currently, Beausoleil's Wood/Acetate collection is housed at Spectacle Queen St but available by viewing at all of our stores because, Spectacle Loves You

Client Profile:Dan Levy

You may recognize Mr Levy's mug from the countless hours he has logged as a VJ on MTV Canada, around Spectacle he is known more as the dude with good taste in eyewear (like so many of our clients).

Dan's thick dark frames are pretty synonymous with his image so its understandable that while he is always looking to switch things up and keep looking fresh he doesn't want to stray too far from what works, that's where we come in.

Recently we helped Mr Levy into a classic pair of Cutler and Gross 0772's in GB, same as our boy Darren.

These frames in particular work well with Dan's tall dark and handsome persona as the black brow on the top of the frame maintains his signature look while the crystal bottom half really allows for more of Dan's face to be shown. A nice update on a signature style that is already going strong.

Watch for Dan to debut these bad boys on a TV screen near you sometime soon.

Remember you don't have to be a famous personality to come on in and get yourself a little bit of that Spectacle Style, we are always here to help because.....

Cutler & Gross S/S 2011 Preview and Fashion Event + Spectacle

Spectacle is proud to preview the S/S 2011 Cutler and Gross eyewear and sunwear collection in cooperation with Gotstyle's Fall "RED LIGHT AFFAIR" Fashion event on October 23.

Over 40 years ago, two men named Graham Cutler and Tony Gross revolutionized the way sunglasses were perceived, transforming eyewear from a medical necessity into key fashion accessories designed strictly for those with a strong understanding of fashion. Bringing a distinctive originality and flair to eyewear, Cutler and Gross' hand-built frames have gone on to gain an undeniable foothold in the fashion industry as well as a vastly loyal international fan base.

Cutler and Gross = Originality, design flair, quality, individual style, and minimal branding as they design to celebrate the individual and not the brand. Individual being the key word to describe Cutler and Gross.

Inspired by Tim Buckley’s Song to the Siren, the aquatic-themed campaign and frames promise bright colors and bold frames. The runway show will be a showcase of the Cutler and Gross S/S 2011 release.

Details of the Gotstyle event:
Experience a taste of Amsterdam's infamous Red Light District
Saturday, October 23, 2010
Doors open at 8pm
Runway Show at 9pm
Cocktail Reception at 10pm
Amsterdam Brewery
21 Bathurst Street, 2nd Floor
(free parking behind the venue)

If you would like to attend the event, please RSVP to before October 21. Please note the event has limited capacity.

In addition, Spectacle will also preview the Cutler and Gross 2011 collection at our Queen St. location from Sunday, October 24 until Saturday October 30.

This an opportunity for you to try on the styles and find the right fit for you. Pre-orders will be available during this time only. This showcase represents the early release into North America so the styles will move fast, so we hope to see you soon!

Thank you for all your support. We wouldn't be here without you -- and remember, spectacle loves you!!

Spectacle Loves Alain Mikli in NYC

Recently Jag went on a secret buying trip to NYC to meet up with some of our top collections. He also found a little bit of time for some great sight seeing but that is a blog for another time.

First up while in the Big Apple was a meeting with the fine folks from Alain Mikli

We have covered the illustrious history of Mr Mikli and his creations on this blog before and we brought you some lessons from inside his design studio recently but now here is a view of a different kind, check out a preview of some of these frames soon to be hitting the shelves at your local Spectacle.

One model that captured our hearts and is sure to be part of our fall line up is the Mikli 0952. A little larger and more square shaped then previous Mikli frames, this baby is a definite step into the future with a mind to the past.

As with all of his work Alain hand picks the acetates he uses to give him exclusive colorways and patterns.

Another couple of little known facts are that only 400 of any Mikli frame are ever produced and they are designed in tandem with acupuncturists to ensure the utmost comfort , making them even that much more special.

The Mikli 0952 and other pieces from his recent collection are available at the Spectacle location nearest and dearest to you because, Spectacle Loves You!

Spectacle Loves Cito!

Darren from Spectacle and his crew of baseball buddies recently attended the Cito Caston tribute night the Blue Jays held at the Rogers Center and had a heck of good time.

Everything looks nicer through a pair of Oliver Peoples x Spectacle Connollys

When sitting up in the 500's it is important to have proper glasses in order to see all the game action properly.

On this particular motley crew you have the Paul Smith PS-427's and Spectacle Exclusive PS-3003's as well as a sweet pair of old school American Optics shades, just like they wore in Top Gun. All purchased at Spectacle of course!

The fun continued as superstar eyewear designer Odin Cappello fresh off a plane from the Paris trade show stopped by for an in game visit with his lovely lady Les.

The Jays won the game and everyone went home happy, with a little help of that patented "Spectacle Style"

Thanks for all the memories Cito, Spectacle Loves You
